If nothing else, 2020 taught us how little control we have in this world. We don't know what 2021 will bring, but what we can shape is our spiritual and emotional response to our daily life.
2021 has finally arrived! In many ways, it is a relief to see 2020 in the rear-view mirror. The year 2020 brought us individual and collective heartache on several different levels. Entering this new year, we may find ourselves stressed, physically depleted, and emotionally fragile. We also may find ourselves hopeful for what this new year will bring. (It can only get better, right?)
One way we mark a new year is by making resolutions to improve certain aspects of our lives - health, finances, career prospects, relationships, etc.. Even in the best of times, January 12th is reported to be the day most resolutions fail. Even for those who stick with it longer, U.S. News & World Report tells us that the success rate for New Year's resolutions is only 20 percent. When we fail at our resolutions, we often blame ourselves and experience feelings of shame and guilt.
Shame and guilt undermine resiliency and we absolutely don't need to add shame and guilt on top of the trauma of 2020. Let's embrace a new vision of resolutions for 2021!
At "Resolutions for Resilience: A Ritual Based (online) Workshop" we will re-frame the concept of resolutions and consider how to build resiliency sustainably into daily-life.
Using the tools of ritual, meditation, and reflection, we will explore the motivations behind our resolutions, identify an internal goal versus an external goal, and actively create a resilient resolution. Let's explore together!
