End of Life Options for People Developing Dementia

End of Life Options for People Developing Dementia
Do you want to linger in a memory unit of a nursing home when you can no longer recognize your family? How and where you do not want to die? Delaying death is not the same as prolonging life.
Becoming demented is the greatest fear shared by most people as they age.

You need to plan for the time when you may no longer have a clear mind and the ability to make decisions about your own medical care.

The Advance Directive (AD) in its usual format is insufficient if you become demented. A Dementia Provision should be added to your AD to describe what kind of medical care you want if you were to develop dementia. Various options and strategies will be discussed to help you develop a plan should you develop dementia.
