Life After Loss: A Mindful Approach to Grief and Loss

Hosted by Mary Anne Cook

Life After Loss: A Mindful Approach to Grief and Loss
Grief can be emotionally overwhelming and confusing. In our small group, we learn to honor it as the heart’s natural response to loss, and how to slowly transform the pain into acceptance and growth.

Grief is the heart’s natural response to loss. It creates a constellation of emotions that deserves great attention and care.

This group emphasizes mindfulness and the power of group support to transform the pain of loss from a loved one’s death into growth, healing, and inspiration for the future. Members develop a greater sense of ease and acceptance in day-to-day life as they learn to live with their loss.

The workshop begins with time to quiet the mind and reflect on one’s grief experience. From there, the group facilitator provides time for:

  • Group members to express thoughts & feelings about their loss
  • Learning about the nature of grief and the journey to healing
  • Practicing mindfulness coping skills to ease adjustment to the loss
  • Discussion and experiential exercises
