California Estate Planning: What to Know & How to Discuss it
An important part of reimagining life, loss and love is planning ahead for our later years. How can we prepare in a way that gives peace of mind both to our Elders and the family members they will leave behind?
Presenter Loulena Miles is an attorney who helps her clients craft estate plans that give them confidence that they and their loves ones will be protected in the long run. During this presentation, she will outline the documents that are necessary for California residents to achieve this goal and answer audience questions.
But even once people have all the pertinent information, they often hesitate to make an estate plan, partially because they are unsure what decisions best serve themselves as well as their loved ones. Discussions with family members about this topic can be emotional and contentious. Co-presenter Katharina Dress is an Elder Mediator who specializes in helping families navigate these challenging conversations. During her presentation, she will share some of her “tools of the trade” through participatory exercises, small group discussions and a Question and Answer session.
