Caring for the Veteran Caregiver

A special day for caregivers of veterans with sessions by StoryCorps – learn to record family stories; Upright Citizen’s Brigade improv workshop; The Conversation Project – learn how to start the end of life wishes conversation.

Included in this program presented by the Department of Veterans’ Services for caregivers of veterans are sessions presented by:

StoryCorps
, a national oral history project, will teach participants best practices for using and recording a story on the StoryCorps app; how to create a great space for supportive conversations and ensure excellent sound quality, and how to help people tell their stores and share them with the community. (please download the app in advance of the session) StoryCorps has a Military Voices Initiative that you can check out in advance.

Upright Citizen’s Brigade
, the comedy entertainment group, will lead an improv workshop called How to Ask for Help: Caring for Caregivers. designed to improve communication around end-of-life care, using the tools of improv to to help participants be in the moment, reach a shared understanding, and celebrate the gift of connection.

The Conversation Project
Conversation Starter Workshop - learn how to start the conversation that ensures your wishes and those of your loved ones are honored at end of life.

NOTE: Breakfast and lunch are included for caregivers of veterans and their families.
