The Death Bed Letter (Dead Time PART II)

Hosted by

Mori M. Mento

Come and enjoy some Dead Time at the Guild for Good with this 3-part participatory exploration of death.

Start by *not* being an @$$hole to your loved ones by workshopping your Advance Directive. Then, contemplate your final days and pen a letter from your future death bed with The Death Bed Letter workshop. Finally, commune with fellow humans as we express our mortality through a myriad of performance arts with our death-themed community open mic: The Closed Mic.

7:30-9pm || Part 2: The Death Bed Letter
The Death Bed Letter is an exercise in time travel and imagination to remind yourself to live each day with presence and purpose.
Imagine, you’re 102 years old lying on a warm bed surrounded by loved ones when the Doctor enters the room and informs you the news that it could be any day now. You look back on the life you’ve laid. The laughs and cries, the wild adventures and waning tides and suddenly, you’re offered a chance to have a conversation with yourself, in this present moment. What do you say? Together we’ll answer by writing letters to our present selves from our imagined death beds. We'll use sensory details to imagine future memories; the people and places, the chances and choices, and leave ourselves with reminders to live in gratitude with grace.
Facilitated by Kurt Peloquin.
