Redemption: An Exploration of Possibilities at the End of Life

Moderated by physician Jennifer Brokaw, this panel features graphic journalist/illustrator Wendy MacNaughton who will present her work with the Zen Hospice Project and San Quentin Prison. Her work is also featured in the Death Panels graphic medicine exhibit on view during Reimagine.

Participants also include Ladybird Morgan, co-founder of the Humane Prison Hospice Project and co-facilitator of the San Quentin peer support group Brothers Keepers, and palliative care physician Ira Byock. Byock will present the Four Things That Matter Most - sentiments that can help us resolve interpersonal difficulties with integrity and grace - which MacNaughton features in her book How to Say Good-bye. The program offers practical "take-home tips" about implementing the Four Things in our own lives.

MacNaughton’s work is featured in the graphic medicine exhibit Death Panels: Comics That Help Us Face End of Life on view at the same location during Reimagine. This is the first of a series of public programs inspired by the exhibit.
