Let Me IntervYOU! Episode #11
Our Guest is Deb Canja, an attorney and success coach. She founded and led a successful nonprofit organization, Bridges4Kids, an Internet information portal helping parents and professionals to help children from birth through college. She volunteered throughout her life, most notably as a trustee of a Michigan community college and championed making education affordable and accessible for all. She protected consumers as a civil servant in the Michigan judicial system.
During the past few years, she became a fierce advocate as the Family Caregiver for her Mother, Tess. After Tess passed away in 2023, Deb has found herself in limbo. She recognizes long-term caregiving creates barriers that prevent caregivers from pursuing personal plans and fulfilling one’s own needs and wants. Someone else always came first – a habit that became a way of life.
Join our conversation about shedding an over-powering sense of responsibility. How do we start to explore “what I want?” How do we get out of being suspended in a state that is neither here nor there. We are no longer responsible for someone else. Yet we don’t know how to focus on ourselves.
Once caregiving is done, we no longer have to just keep going. That responsibility has ended. Now, to figure out how to move forward…
