Grief Dialogues: Stories to Empower Caring Conversations
What are advance care planning* conversations? When and how do we start them for ourselves and family? What if our loved one is reluctant or resistant? These conversations are complicated even for healthcare and end-of-life care professionals. Add in cultural and generational considerations and a wrong word or phrase can end a discussion before it even gets started.
In this session, we use theatre concepts and storytelling along with The Conversation Project Starter Guide to empower you to develop a positive environment for these conversations. Elizabeth Coplan, Halle Williams, with Grief Dialogues Health Care Education & Stefanie Elkins, an Eldercare Manager/End-of-Life Doula of Be Present Care collaborate to bring a dynamic and intimate opportunity that encourages you to talk with your loved ones about the need for planning ahead. We also provide you insight and perspective to reflect on your own healthcare goals and wishes.
*Advance Care Planning (ACP) is a process of conversations & creating vital directives to express your healthcare goals, values, & wishes for when you’re not able to speak for yourself.
