Magnified and Sanctified: A Virtual Kaddish Experience

Hosted by JCCSF

Magnified and Sanctified: A Virtual Kaddish Experience
We’ll meet each week to mourn the loss of life, share names of our lost loved ones and learn a brief sacred teaching together. We will conclude by reciting the Kaddish, a Jewish prayer for mourning.

More than any other Jewish prayer, poem, psalm or song, the Aramaic hymn Kaddish (meaning Holy) has an outsized impression on Jewish culture and tradition. Kaddish is most commonly recited by those mourning the recent death of a loved one or commemorating the anniversary of the day they passed. The lilting, lyrical chant gives the mourner a moment to concentrate on the soul of their beloved and provides the community the opportunity to see who needs more tenderness, care and compassion.

While we shelter-in-place, we’ll meet each week virtually to mourn the loss of life, share our names and reason for reciting kaddish, read a poem, learn a brief sacred teaching together, and then recite the Kaddish together. This experience will last 20 – 30 minutes, depending on how many of us are on the call.

Register for as many as you like, and we will send out the Zoom link and password the night before.

May the names of those we are remembering be a blessing for us.
