Artists, activists, leaders, and lovers:
Grief stands in the way of you showing up as your best self doing your best work.
Create space in the soil, sand, and stones for grounding your grief.
This event provides connection and expression. Prepare to give your grief another place to live - bring something to draw, write with or prepare to move, sing, cry, scream.
- First, we will honor our individual and collective loss.
- Then, we will separate out what we cannot use like fear, anxiety, anger, and sorrow. We'll give that to the earth to decompose and transmute.
- After that, we'll remember how it feels to be held and reminded that we need not carry our burdens alone. Earth is like a loving ancestor willing to listen and comfort.
- Finally, we'll review how to refresh our spirits whenever we need to.
A recording of the first "From Grieving to Grounding" zoom-held event on June 11, 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and days after the murder of George Floyd which ignited the world's outrage over racism and police brutality is presented with video and photographs for a visually enhanced experience.
We can create space to see ourselves as the artists of our lives - fully equipped to create the masterpiece of our soul. We begin by freeing ourselves from our suffering. Our personal and collective commitment to healing is the key. From Grieving to Grounding honors those and what we have lost, releases what we can give to the earth for composting, reminds us of how it feels to be held by earth as our nurturing ancestor, and reveals every day methods of rooting ourselves in the fertile soil of love.
Nature is the perfect healer. To ground our grief we will create space within ourselves to call on the earth element for restorative medicine.
