Let Me IntervYOU! 2024 #2
Casey Doherty, a ‘23 Judith Heumann-Elijah Armstrong Awardee, faces loss due to chronic illnesses. An inspiring journey to become an advocate for chronic-disease patients + disability-rights activist

Let Me IntervYOU! returns to an interview format in 2024.

Before age 20, Guest Casey Doherty became disabled by chronic illnesses that have led to many different types of loss in her life. Since graduation from college, she has engaged in disability justice activism despite being mostly housebound during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as having to decide each and every day how she will spend her limited energy. With her hidden and debilitating health conditions, Casey recognizes the critical need to protect the most vulnerable members of our society and their quality of life.

Join us to hear Casey’s inspiring story: she’s turned loss into actively building community; she’s become a fierce activist to raise awareness of the importance of defending and expanding the rights of chronic-disease patients; she’s adopted patient-first strategies to navigate the medical system, and she’s completed a graduate degree in Disability Studies.

From Casey’s losses has come a new life focus: fighting societal stigma in order to create a safer and more just world for all persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
