Join us for a conversation with Jennifer Mayares-Soberanis, a Truancy Officer, who has written a new book, Every Day Counts! The story features a magical school backpack that takes a young girl, Emmy, on an adventure to help her realize the importance of attending school each and every day of the school year. The key message this book delivers with colorful illustrations is that consistent school attendance is a critical foundation for a brighter future in life. Losing days of school may lead a student down the wrong life path.
As a prevention officer in her local office of education, Jennifer is committed to empowering at-risk students and their families. With expertise in truancy prevention and attendance intervention, she is dedicated to not losing one more child to delinquency. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with families, schools, social service agencies and truancy courts to address challenges and ensure that students stay on the path to success.
Welcome join us to learn more about what motivated Jennifer to write this book and what were some of the highlights of her creative process.
