In 2020, Meggan Roxanne's mother was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She stopped working and became her mother's full-time carer.

"And that's when I actually started writing," she told the writer Nancy Levin in 2024.

There is something worth pausing on in that sentence, given what she does for a living. Meggan Roxanne founded The Good Quote, a platform built almost entirely on other people's sentences. She started it on Tumblr around 2010, during a stretch of depression after she had dropped out of university and left her job, and it grew into something her publisher says reaches more than twenty million people worldwide.

Fifteen years of finding the right words for other people. Then her mother got ill, and she wrote her own.

Who she is

Meggan Roxanne is a first-generation British Trinidadian writer, speaker and founder. She is the Sunday Times bestselling author of How to Stop Breaking Your Own Heart (Hay House, 2024), and her second book, You Deserve to Live Again: How to Return Home to Yourself After Grief and Loss, is out on 3 November 2026, a few weeks after the Summit.

She is not a therapist or a clinician, and does not present herself as one. She writes from what happened to her. Her mother has since died. She has also spoken about losing elders during COVID and losing friends.

That is worth saying plainly, because "founder of a platform reaching twenty million people" can make someone sound like they arrived at wisdom from above. She did not. She arrived at it the ordinary way.

Her session

Meggan opens the Summit. Life After Grief: From Surviving to Thriving is a fireside chat on the Main Stage in the first hour of the day, with Reimagine's Corey Kennard, and it is deliberately placed there.

The subject is what comes after. Not the acute stretch, when everyone is still calling. The part later on, when the casseroles have stopped and the world has resumed and you are supposed to be functioning, and something enormous is still sitting in the middle of your life. She talks about how she moved from surviving her grief to actively building a life she wanted to be in.

If that sounds like it might tip into the tidy version, here is the line that tells you it does not:

"I'm still learning how to piece my heart back together again… I don't have all the answers."

Her publisher puts the same idea more bluntly. The new book, they say, "isn't a book about moving on from your grief. It's about learning to carry it with compassion while slowly making space for hope, healing and joy again."

If this is you

You are further out than the acute stage and it has not resolved. People have stopped asking. You have stopped mentioning it, partly because you cannot face watching someone's face change.

Or you were the carer. You gave up work, or nearly did, and organised your life around someone else's illness, and now they are gone and the shape of your days has collapsed along with the person. That is two losses, and only one of them gets acknowledged.

Or you are somewhere in the version of this that has no name yet, where you can see that a life is still available to you and you cannot work out how you are supposed to want it.

Meggan Roxanne's session is for you. It opens the day at 10:20 AM Pacific, thirty minutes on the Main Stage, and everything is recorded, so if you cannot be there live you have not missed it.
