What I'm here to reimagine...
I am here to reimagine how to talk with children about illness, dying and death. I believe that children see and need support about death as a concept and as it inevitably occurs in their smaller and larger worlds.

The death of my 6 year old daughter from leukemia changed the course of my personal and professional life. Since then, I have devoted my work as an adult and child psychiatrist to helping people cope with illness ,dying and loss. I do individual therapy about this, I am called into schools across the nation when there is a death in their community. I have 2 books written about grief: I Will Remember You -A Guidebook Through Grief For Teens (Scholastic, 2001) is a book directly for teens. Giving Hope: Conversations With Children About Illness, Death and Loss (Random House, 2022) guides adults in how to talk with children about death. To me, the antidote to loss is connection and the more we are able to talk about death , the closer and stronger our relationships become.
