Josie Wood - Grieving and Supported

What I'm here to reimagine...

I’m here to reimagine how we walk with grief...not as something to fix or escape, but as a path where the deep heart can help us carry sorrow and find light in the darkness.

Story

When my husband was killed in a car crash when I was 25 - it blew my heart open to life. I had a deeper sense of what life could be. After his death I also unravelled in a big way...and really needed the help of a kind, supportive mental health professional. But I couldn't find one...at least not a kind and supportive one. That set me on a path to be the therapist that I'd desperately needed mysel...
When my husband was killed in a car crash when I was 25 - it blew my heart open to life. I had a deeper sense of what life could be. After his death I also unravelled in a big way...and really needed the help of a kind, supportive mental health professional. But I couldn't find one...at least not a kind and supportive one. That set me on a path to be the therapist that I'd desperately needed myself. In facing death so directly I seemed to loose my fear of it. The worst had already happened, which was strangely liberating. It meant that I could wholeheartedly be there for others who were also facing the worst...when it happened for them. I could be with people in the depths of their darkest days...without pulling away. I've been on this path ever since - helping others walk through their pain. Enabling them to look to a brighter horizon, as they find peace, light and strength inside.
