What we're here to reimagine...
The When You Die Project envisions a world where death isn’t taboo and something to be feared, but rather a part of life. Through our films, and death education, we aim to ease fear and anxiety by starting and continuing the conversation.
Story
The When You Die Project hosts the conversation most of us avoid with compassion and honesty. We explore dying as a natural part of life, bringing together bedside wisdom, research, and personal stories to open thoughtful and honest dialogue. Our work meets people where they are, reduces fear, and invites reflection without prescribing belief.

From Director Johanna Lunn on making the films:
On the one hand you can say it started 10+ years ago with the desire to make a documentary about what happens when we die. I knew enough about death to know that it wasn’t just physical, and I knew I wanted to interview those who have spent their careers at the bedside or in researching all things end-of-life. Death & dying was far richer and nuanced than I could have imagined. It wasn’t just a physical event, but emotional and spiritual. When the time for curing ends, the body knows how to die.
