Mourning, Moving, and Empathy - 6 week workshop

Led by transformational coach and movement artist Sasha Soreff, "Mourning, Moving, and Empathy" provides a space for honoring grief in community. Empathic conversation, rooted in the principles of Non-Violent Communication and coupled with creative movement, invites us to connect with our experiences of loss with compassion and support. When we are accompanied in our grief - as well as anger, shame, fear, and other emotions, we can become more present to ourselves and others. Creative movement allows for the embodied expression of long-held feelings, bringing us from our heads into our hearts and toward a deeper level of self-connection and healing. Over the course of 6 weeks, we will engage in empathy/movement practices, learn about the relational neuroscience underpinning them, and develop our own movement vocabularies to support our processing of grief and other emotions in a heartful learning community.
The workshop will meet on the following Thursdays: September 8, 15, 22, 29, October 6, 13 at 9 am pacific/12 noon eastern for 1 hour 15 minutes followed by an optional 15-minute discussion to reflect on the experience each week.
Note: All movement can be done seated, and all movement invitations are optional; all forms of creative expression and embodiment, including stillness, is welcome.

Testimonial: “I lost a close friend to COVID-19, and the first place I really felt safe enough to consider my grief was in a workshop with Sasha. I always come away feeling understood, not only by her, but by myself. Sasha’s workshops have been essential to my personal growth and sense of self.” Krishna, New York
