This month, our esteemed panel of leading grief professionals will explore strategies for building new friendships and why finding others who “get it” helps. The discussion will be especially helpful leading up to the holiday season. (Mark your calendar: the final session in the series will be held before Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 16.) Everyone is welcome and there is no cost to attend.
Allison Gilbert is host of the Passed and Present event series and co-author of Listen, World!, the first biography of American writer Elsie Robinson, the highest-paid woman writer in the Hearst media empire and a young mother who, at the turn of the 20th century, grappled with the death of her only son. Through her groundbreaking work, Allison reveals that beyond self-help books and memoir, biography is a vital yet overlooked reservoir of support and healing after loss. Allison is author of numerous other books, including Passed and Present: Keeping Memories of Loved Ones Alive and Always Too Soon: Voices of Support for Those Who Have Lost Both Parents. Allison Gilbert serves on the Advisory Board of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and is past Board Member of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief. Through her successful initiative Pub Day, Allison enthusiastically supports emerging and established writers to best-position their grief stories for publication.
