Reclaiming Ourselves: Sociopolitcal Grief & Neurofeedback
You are invited to a 4-week in-person series that uses neurofeedback, sharing, and creativity to help us cope with the grief of the decline of democracy and human rights in the US and around the world. Listening to Grief and West Seattle Neurofeedback have teamed up to add another tool—neurofeedback—to your kit for dealing with the polycrisis.
We’re basing each week on a theme related to neurofeedback benefits.
Week 1: Introductions and Overview
Week 2: Smoothing
Week 3: Flow
Week 4: Focus
Each session we’ll check in with each other, then set an intention for the session. Then we’ll break into two groups: one group will experience neurofeedback with Kelly while the other group journals, creates, and discusses with Tamara. We’ll close each session by reconvening the entire group for a final sharing circle and goodbyes.
During the time spent in a circle with Tamara, we will use creative expression and sharing to process what we’re feeling about the state of the world. One creative session will be spend designing postcards that we can then send to our elected officials after we narrow down the issue or few issues that are affecting our hearts the most.
We begin this Sunday, October 12th, and the last session together is on November 2nd, all at Nurture Wellbeing, Studio 102. Space is limited to 6 participants.
Bring cozy socks or slippers (the studio is shoe-free), a warm blanket or soft sweater (we’ll be sitting on the floor), a mug of tea (hot water is available), a journal, and any creative tools you’d like to bring. Other things to know:
- EEG sensors are placed on the scalp and ears with conductive paste.
- Nurture Wellbeing Studio 102 is a shoe-free space.
- We will be sitting on mats on the floor except during neurofeedback.
