You've Got Male Grief: Processing & Parting from Patriarchy

Hosted by Ari Simon

You've Got Male Grief: Processing & Parting from Patriarchy
In this workshop for men & male-conditioned people, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how coping with loss and welcoming grief is a critical process towards gender equality.

Grief is a natural and necessary means to process loss, reconnect with aliveness, and move forward with resilience. Yet for something so necessary to our wellbeing, grief is often avoided, leaving us traumatized and stuck in psychological holding patterns. A key reason for this is gender roles under patriarchy. By creating toxic defenses against loss, patriarchy tricks us into hiding our vulnerability and avoiding healthy grief, and clinging to dominance — and all people suffer the consequences.

So what are male-reared people to do? We gotta grieve! The process of repair and reconciliation from oppression to gender equality requires it.

In this 90-minute interactive workshop, you'll:

  • Gain practical tools for understanding grief, loss, and transformation
  • Recognize how male conditioning under patriarchy makes us avoid processing loss and grief
  • Learn how to reconnect with closeness and vulnerability
  • Practice alleviating shame around grief, and encourage each others' wellbeing

Together, we’ll weave theory, personal experiences, and practices to help you create more space for grief & care for yourself and others in service of transforming oppressive gender roles.

*Please note: this event is designed to center the experiences of men & male-reared people as a means to support us in healthy healing and in taking responsibility to stop perpetuating patriarchy. No one of any identity will be turned away. Please contact Ari Simon at ari@ari.fyi if you have any questions.
