The Connecticut Death Collective was created at the beginning of 2022 to serve a need to establish community and conversation around death and dying in our home state. We began hosting virtual Death Cafes in February 2022 and the following June we hosted our first potluck for death workers. We have since opened our potlucks to the community. Connecticut in general has many restrictions regarding home funerals and green burial, not to mention the ongoing push to legalize medical aid in dying (MAID). Our aim is to increase awareness of accessible and eco-friendly funeral options that are not commonly known to the public. We hope to educate and empower those looking to take back control of their own dying process and those of their loved ones.
