What I'm here to reimagine...

the idea that we have to let go. I don’t believe in closure. Love doesn’t end. It changes form, and a widow can carry it forward while she creates, laughs and loves again.

My husband Steve and I were together 27 years. I cared for him through five years of cancer and held his hand as he took his last breath. Ritual gave my love somewhere to go: daily offerings carried to the creek, chanting at his cremation, his ashes in the Ganges, flowers from his garden on his altar. I grew up in an orphanage and foster homes and was adopted twice, so loss has been part of my story for a long time. I’m an artist, a mother, a longtime Bhakti yoga practitioner, an informal death doula and the founder of Kavacha Designs | Sacred Armor™. I speak and facilitate from lived experience, not clinical expertise. My workshop, Carrying Love Forward, is a circle where widows explore what else they are grieving, what gives their love somewhere to go, and who they are becoming now. Love doesn’t end. It changes form.
