I am here to encourage us to acknowledge and talk about our mortality, in order to make it more possible for our deaths and those of our loved ones to be better experiences.
Story
John Byrne Barry is a writer, designer, actor, bike tour leader, and crossing guard.
His third novel, When I Killed My Father: An Assisted-Suicide Family Thriller, was inspired and informed by by his family’s experience with his mother, who died at 95 after ten years of falling deeper into dementia.
He is a contributing writer for Cake, an end-of-life planning website.
