I'm a Certified Grief Educator and a facilitator in Poetry as a Tool for Wellness. I've been interviewed about grief, and the power of poetry to express the inexpressible, on radio and on a number of podcasts. I've presented for organizations including the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation, the National Association for Poetry Therapy and Rotary International. My personal journey with grief and poetry began when my first wife died. Though I'd written little before, I felt compelled to write poetry. I began searching for books containing other people’s poems about grieving the death of their loved ones but found little that moved me. I decided to create my own. I called for submissions, receiving 100s of replies. Voices of the Grieving Heart is a unique volume with over 160 selected poems, essays, and images by 83 contributors sharing their experiences of loss, grief, and transformation.
