The Homes We Build

The Homes We Build
Live out 60 years of relationship milestones that evoke joy, pain, mortality, and love in this interactive, participatory experience with a partner from the comfort of your home.

The Homes We Build is an interactive, participatory experience for two people to simulate a 60-year relationship by roleplaying a series of short vignettes that make up a shared life. Over the course of a few hours, you will have confronted your partner’s mortality and what it would mean to live without them. After reflecting on a life lived - will you make different decisions in your own life while there is still time?

For people who are strangers or who are new to their relationship, this experience can help them prepare for the future, spark important conversations, or just experience a sense of wonder and possibility. Past participants have felt nostalgia for a life they never lived and marveled at their own ability to create an entire fictional life together in a short period of time.

Journey into your imagination, confronting fears, receiving love, and opening your mind to possibilities that you have not even imagined.

You will choose between playing yourself or creating a character. The experience is designed to be inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations, and uses gender neutral language throughout.

Only one ticket per pair is required. You will need a partner you are comfortable roleplaying a romantic relationship with in the same shared physical space as you, and a way to play an mp3 file (computer or phone will work). This experience lasts several hours, but can be completed on your own time at any time in the future. We are just offering a 45-minute orientation and the necessary materials at this time.
