Most life events are from-to transitions, such as graduation or marriage. The lack of a “to” side when moving from the work- or family-focused stage of life leaves many people to age without a vision of how they choose to do so. Just as a Bar Mitzvah is a life event for transition from childhood to responsibilities, a Bar Matzevah is a life event for transition from focus on work/family to the aging stage of life -- see www.BarMatzevah.com.
Bar Matzevah means "Release That Comes With Age". While a retirement party is oriented toward concluding what has been, a Bar Matzevah is about what is coming with the reality of aging. It emphasizes that lack of clarity of what is to come can be considered a release from the rules and assumptions that have been in a person’s life, and opens the person to explore what activities are good for the person and to pursue them.
There are no rules for the format or content of a Bar Matzevah. This session will be the presenter’s Bar Matzevah, and he warmly welcomes anyone who chooses to join the event.
