We usually think of dying, grieving, and remembering as three separate activities. First comes a person’s dying and death. Then comes a period of grieving by relatives and friends of the deceased, with intense feelings of sorrow. Then as time continues there’s a desire to create a way of remembering the deceased. We think of these as separate activities because they are different actions, are done by different people, and occur at different times.
As I’m dying of dementia I’m feeling the flow I’m in now of living to dying. This feeling of flow has led me to see things as connected and continuing rather than as individual events: Dying, Grieving, and Remembering as a single flow, and then continuing to flow to other places such as Grieving for Myself, Grief-Growth, Epitaphing, and more. This session will go through the difference between relating to flow versus relating to individual activities, and will then go through the flow from dying onward.
