Grief-Growth: I'm feeling a lot of grief as my dementia condition advances, and I'm also feeling a lot of growth. Both grief and growth are taking me to unexpected places I've never been before.
Grief-Growth is a special kind of Growth. Grief-Growth recognizes that the pain and loss that comes with Grief can also open space for Growth.
As a person who is in grief for the life and the future that my dementia is taking from me and my family my grief often feels very black. Grief-Growth allows me to also see my grief in a different way -- that what is going away and causing my grief is also (for now) opening up space that allows me growth in unexpected and unfamiliar ways.
There are also other effects Grief-Growth:
> In Grief-Growth, Grief enriches Growth and Growth gives meaning to Grief
> Grief-Growth helps us to distinguish between the noise and the authentic in our life and to create our Lifestone
> Situations that bring the terrible burden of grief can also bring the release of finality with its own impacts
> Grief-Growth brings different energies into a person's life
Grief-Growth is different than grief or growth separately.
