Grief doesn't observe the calendar. It arrives out of the blue in moments of the holiday season that leave us feeling disoriented.
Most of what we're encouraged to do to support the grieving journey is focused on the mind: name it, move through the stages. But grief also lives in the body, where thoughts can reach but rarely lessen the intensity.
AmarAtma Singh Khalsa is a grief specialist, one of the first Sikh Board Certified Chaplains in the U.S., and author of The Tender Art of Grieving (Shambhala). He has spent decades at bedsides in hospice and palliative care, with families in the most dire circumstances. He brings the gentleness that work taught him into every session.
In 75 minutes, he'll offer a gentle introduction to somatic grief work:
- Where grief settles in the body, and why
- Three practices for the moment it hits — breath, gentle movement, acupressure
- How to carry them into the hardest days of the season
You'll leave with something you can use that night. No experience needed. Come as you are. Ok to stay off camera.
