I was trained to be the educator on disease prevention, wellness and health. That all changed when I became the patient......after the death of my husband. My professional skills came in handy of course while we navigated the cancer world for 15 months. But this was a whole new ball game. I was never prepared to then continue living without him. Living his death, grieving our love, caring for our young children, facing the reality of caregiver burnout and consequences of grief to the whole being left me devastate. Discovering life again without him was like landing on the moon without any space suit. Or so I thought. It was an opportunity to completely re-define life and well being as I knew it. I did have skills, I can create new life, life is full of deaths and births.....and we are designed to navigate it all.
