Hi, I'm Loi. A creative working in tech, lawyering is my side hustle, teaching is in my blood, and farming is my legacy. My father transitioned from heart and diabetic complications on 10/10/2021. He was an agricultural scientist, educator and farmer, who spent his life taking care of plants and animals while teaching other people how to do the same. Even though he had been unwell for a while, with his death I became undone. For me, Daddy's transition highlighted just how much we don't honor death enough in our culture. I'm Jamaican, born in the US of African, Chinese, and Indian descent. I've been thinking about how my ancestors honored death and the dead, and how I can incorporate some of their practices in my own life. As deep as my grief is, I intend to help myself and others navigate our lives in this new normal. It is my hope that we can experience a beautiful transformation.
