Out With a Bang is the title of a workshop led by facilitator Aaron Kierbel, using interactive drumming and voice to explore the multitude of ways people around the world honor, celebrate, and mourn those who have passed. By focusing on the songs from various death rituals, participants gain an intimate window into the context for how and why these songs are used to help people deal with the experience of death.
Participants are invited to summon their own creativity by improvising, responding and evolving the music to make it their own. Spontaneously created rhythms, songs and other unique expressions of creativity are encouraged.
No experience with drumming or death is required for this experience.
