ALI reframes art as research, and empowers artists - the producers of our culture, the creators of our social imaginary, and the mediators of our relationships with nature and each other - to lead in building social, civic, and human systems.
ALI sees artists as researchers, and their unique ways of knowing as the most valuable outcome of their practice. Through advising, education, collaboration, and 'impact' partnership, ALI catalyzes an artist's practice into a force of deep social and civic transformation.
