I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and work as Program Coordinator at Shalom Spirituality Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Following multiple losses of mother, husband and grandson in the space of three years, I began studying the science of bereavement and the healing power of creativity. I became certified as a grief counselor and Therapeutic Art Coach and founded an annual Hope & Healing grief retreat. I'm the author of seven books, including "Refined By Fire: A Journey of Grief and Grace," "Expressive Writing for Healing: Journal Your Way From Grief to Hope" and "Called to Be Creative: A Guide to Reigniting Your Creativity." I love helping others through the public speaking I do and workshops and classes I teach.
