Our Inspiration

The Integrative Thanatology Certificate Program was born from the Art of Dying Conferences held in New York from 1996-2016. This program was created to provide a comprehensive course of study to those drawn to a more holistic approach to dying. We believe that consciously engaging with death and mortality can have a profound impact on how we live our lives. Our goal is to create a community of graduates who feel empowered to become a resource in their own circles, to help reshape the cultural dialogue around death, and to help support a reimagining of policies and practices around end-of-life care.
